We’d like to say a big thank you to everybody who was involved in the Candy Jar Book Festival!

Following last year's success, the Candy Jar Book Festival returned to Cardiff for two weeks in the summer of 2015, bringing with it a boatload of books, a sprinkling of signings and incredibly (though fleetingly) the sun. Opening on Saturday 8th of August with an appearance by World War Two veteran and author of One Woman's War Eileen Younghusband, the festival wrapped up on the 19th with Andy Frankham-Allen's appearance at Rhydypennau library. Thank you to everyone who came to say hello and to the good people behind the Cardiff Summer Market. Here's to next year!

Highlights included:

WWII veteran Eileen Younghusband joined us in our book shed and signed copies of One Woman's War and Men I Have Known.

Andy Frankham-Allen signed copies of the first book in the brand new Lethbridge-Stewart series as well as his compendium of Doctor Who assistants: Companions at Forbidden Planet.

Anthony Ormond popped along to sign copies of his debut children’s book Tommy Parker: Destiny Will Find You! and chat about time-travel.

Jane Cohen read an extract of her debut book, Book Worms, and invited children to create their very own bookworms bookmark at Rhydypennau library.

Victoria Brotherton led the Dinky Dragons sessions at the Cardiff Story museum and treated attendees to a reading of her beautifully illustrated book, No Peas Please.

Andy Frankham-Allen chatted about all things Who at the Rhydypennau library Doctor Who evening.

We had a fantastic week. Thank you to everybody who came down to say hello, we'll see you again next year.
